Everything old is new again and vice versa

An Index: somebody, somewhere susceptive and
exposed, infected and incubating.
A Syndrome: sniffle, sneeze, cough, fever, malaise
and misery…trouble breathing? Recovery?
A Cootie: aerosolized droplets, fomites, contamination.
A Chain: contacts, vectors, serial transmission,
exponential growth, reproductive number, attack
rate and mortality estimates.
A Response: the worried well, masks, immunization,
social distancing, isolation, stigmatization and
ostracization.
