I’m White and I Live Segregated

Jeans don’t fit.

Did I gain weight?
Nothing to wear.

Google-maps, still lost.

‘Just go home.’

I don’t know this side of town. Is it ‘sketchy?’ Probably.

Drive around block looking.

Park and start walking.

Find the building. Climb the stairs. Let yourself in.

When will I get this right?

When will I stop oppressing?

Amy is a clinician and clinical educator. She works daily to unpack her own biases and racism. She holds doors open for people who don’t look just like her. She challenges her learners to understand their own racial identity especially around whiteness and choose something different from the status quo.
