Vision

When I close my eyes, your frozen full-
moon pupil rises and swells. Your chubby
toddler arms thrash and thrash. Your
drowned brain, hungry for gravity,
drowns in self. Your mother’s wet
crescent eyes storm. Medical Eyes dart to
the clock, to me, fractured by the light of
fast-moving clouds. But I will not
apologize for grief.
