“It’s botulism!” we say excitedly
Neurologists crowd around
One squeeze yes, two squeezes no
Anti-toxin flies in from California
“Got it! We saved him!”
2 months, yet no change.
“Do you wish to extubate?”
One squeeze yes.
Patient dies.
I think to myself: Did we truly save him?
