Survivor’s Guilt

Residency:
A journey at full velocity;
Together,
Yet alone.

Every day,
I compare.
Am I meant for this place?

Colleagues with pagers buzzing:
No pulse,
No breath.
Tears concealed,
But recognized.

Meanwhile I sit.
No tears,
With pulse,
And breath.

Why does it sting,
When my calm and quiet days are right,
But feel wrong?
