Advanced Maternal Age

“Happy Birthday!” All I can think is, “great, now I’m
advanced maternal age.” My husband assures
me he couldn’t find a birthday card welcoming a
35-year-old woman to advanced maternal age …
yet I know that my female colleagues know exactly
what I’m thinking – forever posted on the L & D Board
– 35 yo AMA.

Wendy L. Hobson-Rohrer, MD, MSPH

Professor, Department of Pediatrics

As a pediatrician and a pregnant woman, Wendy’s 35th birthday had special meaning. After all the years of study, and hard work, she too had arrived at the fateful AMA.
