Heroin, sometimes meth. Homelessness, criminality, dishonesty. Hopeless? I’ve seen this. Addiction is a disease. Treat. Show compassion Repeat. Suddenly, “Are you happy?” “I’ve had a sad life. It makes me happy when other people are happy.” I am happy. He leaves smiling. Door closes. I cry. Sad tears. I can’t dictate. I’ve never seen this.

Kyle completed a family medicine residency at Mayo Clinic and medical school at Pacific Northwest University. He is enthusiastic
about patient-centered language and has particular interests in substance use disorders, nutrition, sports medicine, end-of-life care, and an unusual micro-niche in the management of common warts. He is a native of Idaho, while his wife hails from Alberta, Canada. In addition to spending time with his wife and children he loves planning trips, vacuuming, trail running, and participation in his church.
