From any other angle it appeared to be a normal tree, but if you stood just right you could truly appreciate how hard it had to work just to stay alive.

Kristen Saad is a medical student in the University of Utah School of Medicine class of 2021. A nontraditional student who transitioned from a career in tech, she graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a B.S. in Systems Biology and an M.S. in Systems and Control Engineering. In her free time she likes to hang out with her husband and dog, hike, and learn to make new things (current interest is kombucha, but who knows what the future holds).
